Microbric—the manufacturer of the famous Edison LEGO-compatible educational robot, has released a new educational kit that both students and teachers can look forward to: Whybricks.

Whybricks helps students engage with a hands-on approach to learning physical science in the later primary school years. This educational construction set also supports students to further explore physical science and engineering phenomenon in a fun, relevant and active-learning way.

Further, it is supported by a complete set of free educational resources, taking students on a learning journey using sound engineering and scientific practices, such as:

• Whysheets – acts as the students’ and educators’ guide for the investigation (worksheet).
• Notice and Wonder sheets – a dedicated area for students to note observations throughout the study.
• WOW sheets – each of which covers a concept relevant to the lesson plan, helping students understand and discover key details.

Each activity contains the necessary sheets, build guides and a comprehensive teaching guide that ensures meaningful educational outcomes for students.

The Whybricks Kit

The Whybricks kit comes with free lessons that can guide and support students in tangible learning of topics.

This means each student will encounter facts (e.g. Newton’s F=ma), exercise a scientific mindset, participate in scientific and engineering practices, make real-world connections between the world around them and the material they are learning, and much more.

Moreover, each kit contains 2100 pieces, enabling 10 students to work with 210 pieces each individually. The Whybrick kit and lessons also provide the educators with the learning materials that:

• Aligns with their physical science curriculum;
• Provides complex concepts through practical and intellectual activities;
• Contains a comprehensive set of resources including student-centered and research-based lessons.
