The Alloy SCR460SC-3 is a Serial to Fibre Media Converter that serves a dual purpose. You can use it as a standalone device or as a Media Converter Module in any Alloy DCR12 Series 12-slot Media Converter Rackmount Chassis. It comes with a triple-mode circuit RS-232/RS-422/RS-485 Serial DB-9 copper port and an SC-terminated single-mode fibre port. This allows the Converter to transmit data and control signals over a fibre cable segment up to a maximum distance of 20 kilometres. The Converter automatically detects serial signal characteristics and operates in RS-232, RS-422, or RS-485 mode with its auto baud rate (up to 460.8K) and direction control functions.

Apart from the SCR460SC-3 Serial to Fibre Media Converter, other models within the SCR Series provide connectivity options such as Terminal Block and DB-9 serial copper connectivity, as well as SC or ST terminated multimode or single-mode fibre optic cable connectivity, which allows for transmission ranges of up to 20 kilometres. All the models within the SCR Series have a compact yet sturdy all-metal case and provide high EMI/EMS immunity. All models in the SCR Series feature an inclusive LED suite, which allows for the monitoring of the Converter's status.
