The Alloy SCR460SC-2 Serial to Fibre Converter is an SCR Series Media Converter . You can use it either as a standalone device or install it in a DCR12 Series 12-slot Media Converter Chassis. It features a Terminal Block and an SC-terminated multimode fiber port. This enables the Converter to extend RS232/422/485 serial signals over a fiber cable segment up to 2 kilometers. Its auto baud rate and direction control functions allow the Converter to automatically detect the serial signal characteristics and operate in RS-232, RS-422, or RS-485 mode.

Other models in the SCR Series, besides the SCR460SC-2, provide Terminal Block and DB-9 serial copper connectivity. Also SC or ST terminated multimode or single-mode fiber optic cable connectivity, with a range of up to 20 kilometers. The models also feature high EMI/EMS immunity and a durable all-metal case with a compact design.

When used as a discrete Media Converter device in standalone mode, all models in the SCR Series rely on an external plug pack, which is included with the Converter. Additionally, each SCR Series model has a comprehensive LED suite for monitoring the status of the Converter.
