The Alloy SCR460SC-1 Serial to Fibre Media Converter can operate independently or as part of the DCR12 Series Converter Chassis. This converter facilitates the conversion of RS232/422/485 serial signals to fibre signals. It comes with a DB-9 port and an SC-terminated multimode fibre port. It can transmit data over distances of up to 2km.

The Converter has an auto baud rate (up to 460.8K) and direction control functions that enable it to automatically detect the serial signal characteristics and operate in RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485 mode.

The SCR460SC-1 is one of the models in Alloy's SCR Series of Dual Purpose Fibre to Serial Media Converter. Users can use these converters as standalone devices or install them in Alloy's DCR12 Series Media Converter chassis. The SCR Series also includes other models that offer Terminal Block and DB-9 serial copper connectivity, as well as SC or ST terminated multimode or single-mode fibre optic cable connectivity, with ranges of up to 20 kilometres. All models in the SCR Series have a compact, robust all-metal case and provide high EMI/EMS immunity.

Additionally, when used as standalone devices, SCR Series models rely on an external plug pack that is included with the Converter, and they have a comprehensive LED suite for monitoring the Converter's status.
