Description
The IEC Millikan's Apparatus (without a built-in power supply) enables the atomization of a latex solution into small charged spheres, which are introduced between charged plates in a cell.
A rubber hose induces a static charge on the particles, and by reversing the voltage between the plates, the particles are drawn toward one plate or the other. Their movement is observed through a graticule-equipped telescope. External power sources are required. By knowing the potential between the cell plates and tracking the spheres' velocities, users can calculate the charge of a single electron.
