The Alloy FCR200SC.10015 is a versatile Fast Ethernet Media Converter. You can use it as a standalone device or install it into a Media Converter Chassis. It has dual 100Base-TX auto-sensing 10/100Mbps RJ-45 and 100Base-FX SC terminated single-mode ports. Thus making it suitable for media conversion tasks in Fast Ethernet network environments. It is an excellent choice for converting UTP/STP copper to Fast Ethernet single-mode fiber, using either the 1550nm or 1300nm wavelength.

The RJ-45 port can support Fast Ethernet and Ethernet UTP/STP links at a range of up to 100 meters. The 100Base-FX port has a maximum fiber cable range of up to 100 kilometers. Fault Modes

An important feature of the FCR200 Series Converters is their support for Link Fault Passthrough (LFP) in both Far-end-Fault (FEF) and Forced Modes (FM).

LFP enables these Media Converters to monitor the RX ports for both the fiber and copper signals, detecting any signal loss. In the event of a loss of RX signal on one media port, the Converter will automatically disable the TX signal to the other media port, thereby passing through the link fault LED status.

FEF mode stops the Converter from sending a link pulse to an LFP-capable Converter on the other end of the cable, which synchronously stops data transmission by the link partner Converter. This prevents the loss of valuable data transmitted over an invalid link.

By combining FM and FEF LFP functions, the Converter offers enhanced troubleshooting and network security capabilities. Both end devices can detect a loss of fiber link, and a managed switch that connects to an FCR200 Series Converter can set up the link to disable and notify administrators of the event.
