The Alloy FCR200SC.40 media converter is one of the FCR200 Series of Fast Ethernet Media Converters and has a variety of installation choices. You can use it as a standalone device, or install it in an Alloy DCR12 Series 12-slot Media Converter Chassis.

The Alloy FCR200SC.40 media converter has dual 100Base-TX auto-sensing 10/100Mbps RJ-45 and 100Base-FX SC terminated single-mode ports utilising the 1300nm wavelength (1550nm models also available). It is capable of supporting fiber cable connections of up to 40 km, making it an excellent choice for extending network connectivity over long distances. The Alloy FCR200SC.20 is an ideal solution for UTP/STP copper to Fast Ethernet single-mode fiber media conversion tasks.

The Link Fault Passthrough (LFP) function of the FCR200 Series Converters allows them to monitor both fiber and copper RX ports for signal loss. If a signal is lost on one port, the Converter will block the TX signal to the other port, indicating the link fault state. This functionality is available in both Far-end-Fault (FEF) and Forced Modes (FM).

FEF mode disables the transmission of link pulses to the LFP-capable Converter at the other end of the cable, preventing data loss over an invalid link. Combining FM and FEF LFP functionalities improves troubleshooting and network security by notifying end devices and the managed switch attached to the FCR200 Series Converter of a lost fiber link and allowing them to take appropriate action.
