Description
The 74LS191 is a synchronous UP/DOWN 4-Bit Binary Counter. State changes of the counters are synchronous with the LOW-to-HIGH transition of the Clock Pulse input. Synchronous operation is provided by clocking all flip-flops simultaneously so that the outputs change at the same time when instructed by the steering logic. This mode of operation eliminates the output counting spikes that are normally associated with asynchronous (ripple clock) counters. The IC's output is always in TTL, making it simple to interface with other TTL devices and microcontrollers.
