Description
The 74HC240 is an 8-bit inverting buffer/line driver with CMOS input level and 3-state outputs. The device can function as two 4-bit buffers or as one 8-bit buffer. The device has two output enables (1OE and 2OE), each of which controls four of the three-state outputs. When nOE is HIGH, the outputs go into a high-impedance OFF state.
Clamp diodes are used as inputs. This allows for the use of current-limiting resistors to interface inputs to voltages greater than VCC.
