Description
This Redback Volume Control is commercially designed for a 100-volt line speaker system. The volume control complies with industry-standard wall plates and is installed into an electrical wall box. The volume control features an 11-position switch for fine adjustment of sound level.
In public places, it is often necessary to override the volume control in an evacuation situation. Built into your volume control unit is a relay to bypass the circuit. This will be very crucial in an emergency. An announcement will be made at full volume regardless of the setting at the time, and this will override your selected level.
There are two modes of operation for the Redback volume control.
First is the standard mode, which requires 24 volts DC to energize the by-pass relay and overrides the volume setting.
The other is the fail-safe mode, which requires 24 volts of DC to allow normal operation. So disconnecting the power activates the by-pass circuitry and overrides the volume setting.
