The MI:sound board is a great add-on for enhanced audio from you BBC Micro:bit. A speaker, volume control & on/off switch is built-in. CR2032 battery included. Micro:bit and USB cable required.

The Mi:Sound speaker board can be used in conjunction with the onboard speaker on the Micro:bit. Or you can turn the onboard speaker off using the MakeCode editor.
