This Adafruit ultimate GPS Breakout is built around the MTK3339 chipset. A no-nonsense, high-quality GPS module that has the ability to track up to 22 satellites on 66 channels. It has an excellent high-sensitivity receiver and a built-in antenna. With up to a 10Hz refresh rate, it is able to actively update its current position 10 times a second, for active, high-speed logging or tracking.

The power usage of this module is incredibly low, only 20 mA during navigation. Includes an ultra-low dropout 3.3 V regulator so you can power it with 3.3V-5VDC in, 5V level safe inputs. Also features an enable pin for turning the module on via code. It has built-in support for the inclusion of a CR1220 coin cell to power the on-board Real-Time Clock. The Ultimate GPS breakout also has a tiny ultra-bright red LED to display the status of the module.

The other much sought after feature is on-board data logging, which is made possible by the MRK3339's inbuilt microcontroller. The microcontroller has enough spare flash memory to store over 15 hours of location data. Starting the data logger is as simple as a single line command, and the logger will log the time, date, longitude, latitude, and height every 15 seconds when the module has a fix on its current position. The rate and data cannot be changed, as it is hardcoded into the microcontroller powering the module.

The kit comes with a fully assembled module, a header that can be soldered onto the module to support mounting on a breadboard, and a CR1220 coin cell holder.
