This item is available as a kit! Includes high-quality PCB and all components (buttons, header, etc), and a 16x2 Character RGB Backlight Negative LCD! The kit also comes with an extra tall 26-pin header. This guarantees the Pi Plate clears the USB ports and Ethernet jack.
Adafruit has released a line of 16x2 colour LCDs with the creation of the Pi Plate. The Raspberry Pi's GPIO is almost completely booked, with changeable backlight color, full-text support, and 5 keypad pins. The 4 directional buttons and select buttons, which are ideal for a standalone project, give you basic control over the LCD and Raspberry Pi with only a little coding.
