It also supports IEEE 802.3af compliant Power over Ethernet (PoE) applications, enabling it to power PD equipment like IP phones and IP cameras via UTP or STP data cable. This device belongs to Alloy's POE200 Series of PoE Media Converters, which support various types of Fast Ethernet copper-to-fiber media conversion. The POE200 Series Converters feature Link Fault Passthrough (LFP) in Far-end-Fault (FEF) mode, allowing them to monitor both the fiber and copper RX ports for signal loss. When a loss of RX signal occurs on one media port, the Converter will automatically disable the TX signal to the other media port, thus passing through the link fault LED status. FEF mode enables the Converter to stop sending a link pulse to an LFP-capable Converter on the other end of the cable, synchronously stopping data transmission to prevent loss of valuable data transmitted over an invalid link.
