The Alloy FCR200SC media converter is a versatile Fast Ethernet Media Converter. It can function as either a standalone device or as a Media Converter Module when installed into the Alloy DCR12 Series 12-slot Media Converter Chassis. This flexibility makes the FCR200SC an excellent solution for various media conversion applications in Fast Ethernet network environments.

The Alloy FCR200SC media converter is an efficient media converter. It has dual 100Base-TX auto-sensing 10/100Mbps RJ-45 and 100Base-FX SC multimode ports. This makes it a perfect solution for media conversion tasks that involve UTP/STP copper to Fast Ethernet multimode fiber. The RJ-45 port can support Fast Ethernet and Ethernet UTP/STP links up to a range of 100 meters. Meanwhile the 100Base-FX port can extend the fiber cable range up to 2 kilometers.

An important feature of the FCR200 Series Converters is their comprehensive support for Link Fault Passthrough (LFP) in both Forced Modes (FM) and Far-end-Fault (FEF) modes. This advanced technology allows the Media Converters to continuously monitor both the copper and fiber RX ports for signal loss.

In the event of a signal loss on one media port, the Converter will automatically disable the TX signal to the other media port, passing through the link fault LED status. Moreover, the FEF mode enables the Converter to stop sending a link pulse to an LFP-capable Converter on the other end of the cable. Thus preventing data loss transmitted over an invalid link.

The combination of FM and FEF LFP functions provides advanced troubleshooting and network security capabilities. Both end devices can be immediately notified of a loss of fiber link. A connected managed switch can be configured to disable the link and alert administrators of the event.
